As I prepare to enjoy Chicago’s Thanksgiving Day parade and then an excellent meal with my family, I am pausing to say thank you to the many people that support the Blog. I am grateful that after more than three years of blogging, my readership continues to grow. But more than that, I am grateful for the many people that I have met and the friendships and client-relationships that I have developed from the Blog. I also need to thank LexBlog. In addition to being the best blog team I could imagine, they have become trusted friends and advisers. I am also appreciative of my firm for allowing me the freedom to blog. Finally, I am grateful for my family who allow me the time to pursue blogging.
Happy Thanksgiving.

Hopefully this post finds you at home with your family sharing the day and giving thanks. That is where I am, but I wanted to say “thank you” on the blog. Thanks to the Blog’s readers. I am grateful that more than two years into it, my readership continues to grow. But most of all, I am grateful for the conversations and friendships that I have developed from the blog. I started to list them, but the list was too long and I would hate to miss anyone. I am also grateful for the great team at LexBlog who take excellent care of the blog and have become trusted friends and advisers. Finally, I am grateful for my family who allow me the time to pursue blogging.
Happy Thanksgiving.

As usual, the Northern District will be closed for both Thanksgiving Day and the Friday after, November 27 and 28. Additionally, the Clerk’s office will close this Thursday, November 20 from 3:30-4:30 pm for a special meeting. The drop box and ECF filing will still be available, but if you want to file in person get there earlier in the day or after 4:30.
[UPDATE:] To those who have wondered, the more standard case analysis posts will be returning shortly — likely late this week, but at least early next. I am working through procedures with my new shop.

The Blog’s first anniversary was in September.* I chose not to do an anniversary post because I was very busy with client matters and because I did not think there was much to say about the anniversary. But the Thanksgiving holiday reminds me that there is something to say — thank you. I am thankful for all of the Blog’s readers. The Blog is a lot of work, but I enjoy IP litigation and I enjoy communicating with all of you about it. I look forward to another year of blogging about Chicago’s IP happenings. And as always, I welcome your comments and suggestions about the Blog and what I can be doing better or differently.
Happy Thanksgiving
* Much like my dog Gert’s birthday (she was a rescue dog), it is difficult to pin down the exact date the Blog began.

I have much to be thankful for this year, including but by no means limited to all of you who take the time to read the Blog.  So, like the Northern District, I will be taking the remainder of the week off to spend time with family and friends.  Have a happy Thanksgiving.  And, enjoy
